Fine Artist, Painter
Alison Wootten is a contemporary artist and painter; she graduated from Wimbledon School of Art in 1998 and is now based in the South West.
Her paintings focus on the wildlife and landscape of British wetlands and coastline; many featuring strikingly simple images of birds and water. Taking inspiration from the mud flats of the Severn estuary, the Fleet lagoon in Dorset, and the Somerset Levels; her paintings evoke the stillness found in these empty places.
Alison is also interested in the formal concerns of painting. Working predominantly in oil, she explores the relationship between figure and ground in her pared-down, compositions. Her work ranges from abstract pieces to more intimate natural studies.
